Sock Help Needed Red Heart Heart & Sole LW1619 Self-Striping Knit Socks
I can't seem to figure out my next step with the socks I am
knitting. I don't understand where I am to go now...do I start again with row 1 or do I start again with row 4? I don't understand what "working one stitch more before the decrease every row" means either....where is my decrease every row? Help!!! Thanks

Turn Heel-Row 1 (Right Side): K14 (15, 16, 17,
18, 19, 19, 19) sts, K2tog, K1; turn.
Row 2: Sl 1, P5, P2tog, P1; turn.
Row 3: Sl 1, K6, K2 tog, K1; turn.
Row 4: Sl 1, P7, P2tog, P1; turn.
Continue in this manner, working 1 st more
before the decrease every row until all heel sts
have been worked, end by working a K row 14
(16, 16, 18, 18, 20, 20, 20) sts remain.

You might like to look at a sock knitting tutorial. This a link to a good one. It is not a video, but good still pictures and text. Scroll down to where it says tutorials. If any of the methods of construction are the one you are using click on it and check it out.

Your decrease each row is where you do either a K2tog, then knit one more stitch before you turn to work the other direction, like on row 1. Or---where you P2tog, then purl one more stitch before you turn to work on the the next row, like on row 2. In other words, at the end of the knit rows you do a K2tog decrease, and at the end of the purl rows you do a P2tog decrease. (I'm not sure if you have other stitches on the needle beyond the K2tog, K1, turn. I don't think so, but if you do, for our purposes that is the end of the row even if there are other stitches there.)

You don't start again with row 1 or row 4, but keep up the type of sequence you have worked over those 4 rows on the next rows, working one more stitch before the decrease (the K2tog, or the P2tog) on each row.

Turn Heel-Row 1 (Right Side): K14 (15, 16, 17,
18, 19, 19, 19) sts, K2tog, K1; turn. You are on a right side row. You knit however many it gives for your size, lets say 14, then knit 2 stitches together, then knit one more stitch. Then exchange the needles in your hands so you can knit the other direction for the next row (turn).
Row 2: Sl 1, P5, P2tog, P1; turn. Slip one stitch purlwise, purl 5 stitches (this is the part that is changing each row, so notice it), purl 2 stitches together, purl 1 stitch; turn to work the other way.
Row 3: Sl 1, K6, K2 tog, K1; turn. Sl 1, K6 (this is 1 more than what you worked after the slip one in the previous row), K2tog, K1; turn.
Row 4: Sl 1, P7, P2tog, P1; turn. Here you are doing the same thing you did in row 2, since it is the template for what you do on the purl rows, but you are upping by one the number worked between the slip 1 and the P2tog, from what it was in row 3. So now you work 7 instead of 6, then do the P2tog, P1; turn.
Row 5-- continue the pattern so: Sl1, K8 (one more than the last row), K2tog, K1; turn.
Row 6: Sl1, P9, P2tog, P1; turn.
Row 7 would be another knit row with one more worked after the slip 1. Row 8 would be a purl row with one more than row row 6 worked after the slip 1. Are you getting it now?

Depending on the size you are working you may have more rows, just follow the same sequence. When you run out of stitches on the heel you are done with this part. End with a knit row.

I hope that helps. The sock tutorial is a big help.
