January KH-KAL: Seamless blanket project!

I think I'm going to buy a new ball of yarn and restart, nevermind trying to do stripes when I'm not a good knitter. This can become a hot mat.

I don't think it matters if it isn't a square! The only thing that could be impacted later on down the pike is when you go to pick up stitches along the edges of this trapezoid. The number of stitches that you will need to pick up might vary with the number of stitches that the official log cabin pattern says. But that's ok.
Just pick up one stitch in each garter ridge or bind off stitch along the edge you're picking up in.

So your photo is showing log#1, right? If so, it is really interesting! What a great centerpiece! Eye-catcher! I kinda did some embellishing myself in log#9 where I added in those stripes every 11th ridge! I thought it kinda made the plain cream more interesting!

Woodi - I would not worry to much about it. I have not counted one stitch on my blanket. I just picked up a stitch for each stitch bound off and one for each ridge when I got to where the colours meet it the gap seemed a bit big I would pick up an extra stitch. I have no idea how many stitches I have on the needle, just that it is more than a 100.

I have now run out of yellow so this will only do one more log of each of the colours left and then on to the border. its getting quite exciting.

I am having a great time thinking about all these 6 colors and how they will work out, and how I'll improvise my log layout! Logs 1-7 are the configuration of the Moderne Baby Log Cabin...but 8-20 are improvised.

So this morning I drew up a plan of attack. I filled in the colors I already have knit...but left the other logs blank for the first sketch:


Below is sorta how I 'plan' to fill in logs 8-21...
but that depends on how far my yarn colors stretch.




I've got 2-tomato, 2-cypress, 2-squash, 1-banana, 1-blueberry, and 1-plum. Each skein is about 120 yards. Not much.

Whoa... that looks really great, Dollyce! I have a copy of the pattern layout as well and had fun playing. Would have been more fun if I'd had enough stash. HOWEVER...there is no reason I can't buy yarn to make a nice blanket for myself at some point.

Everyone's blankets are looking great.

Kids are finally well so I'm hopefully gonna get some knitting done. I picked it up for the first time in a few days last night and had to redo part of it because I realized I had cast off and picked up on a wrong side. That's what I get for trying to knit while I was preoccupied. Oh well, it wasn't too much work!

Oh yeah, my Options set I ordered finally arrived today, so I'm gonna be looking for something else to knit just so I can play with them.
