stocking st

HI!

I'm a new knitter and my pattern calls for 6 rows in stocking st. Does that mean knit 1 row purl 1 row for 6 rows (3 rows of each ) or knit one row purl one row 6 times making a total of 6 rows each? Just wasn't sure if when counting if the stocking st is paired so you count the pairs.

Stocking stitch or stockinette is knit one row then purl one row and repeat those two rows. Stockinette curls naturally when it doesn't have a border on it. If you are making something that won't be seamed you might take that into consideration.

It is 6 rows total so you end up with 3 rows of knit and 3 rows of purl (alternating).

Here is an example of the 6 Rows:

Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: Knit
Row 6: Purl

Remember to move the yarn to the FRONT when starting the purl rows, and to the BACK when starting the knit rows.
