FO: Sparrow - UPDATE: Link to Ravelry download on post #28!

This is a hat I'm sort of making up as I go along. I thought the design in the middle of each square kind of looked like a bird, my husband said it reminded him of a sparrow, and then the name Sparrow was born. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to do the top yet. I'm toying with the idea of having 4 alternating color segments for the decrease portion. What do you think?

I love it! Are you keeping notes so you can write up the pattern? (Hint hint )

When you say four alternating color segments, do you mean having bands of colors (i.e. stripes?)

Well, I love how the yellow colour of the ribbing blends right into the first row of yellow squares... so I would think of making the top of the hat solid brown, so it blends into the last row of brown squares

I really like it!

Very, very pretty! I love the pattern, and hope you'll make it available. As for the top, I think your idea of alternating bands of color would be great. Can't wait to see it.

Yes, I am keeping notes. It's a REALLY easy pattern to do. It's actually my first real try at fair isle knitting! I plan on making the pattern available on Ravelry once I've made sure all the kinks are out.

And by four alternating color segments, I mean this: Let's imagine the top is a circle. Draw two intersecting lines through it in order to have four wedges. Now color in each segment, alternating the colors. So 1/4 of the top in brown, next 1/4 in yellow, and so on. I may try stripes as well.

That's a cool idea, too! I'll have to try it and see if I like it.

Thanks for your comments and ideas, everyone I really appreciate it!
