Time to get ready for that spring cleaning I know you all love! So this month we'll make some simple scrubbies. You can use any pattern you like, but I'm going to make some like Artlady made with the nylon netting.

I just bought some of these spools of netting, but you can buy some at a fabric store and cut it to suit you. Best width seems to be 1.5 inches.

Dollyce's (Artlady) pattern -

Using 1 strand of Sugar 'n' Cream cotton and a 1.5" strip of netting, held together: US 11>cast on 16 st>work 11 garter ridges>bind off.

This one is similar to Dollyce's pattern-although she uses tulle which isn't recommended as it's too soft.

I've sold 14 SCRUBBIES already! I charged $2.50 per scrubbie, and the lady bought all 7 in each batch! I think this last batch of 7 are for gifts!

Of course, I give them away to my family!

My spool of nylon netting gives me 6 or 7 scrubbies. Why 6 one time and 7 the other time? Beats me!

I can make 7 in one evening of TV.

BTW: the netting is colorfast. The cotton is not. That's why I have settled on white cotton with colored netting.

I'm going to join you! These look wonderful and so practical yet pretty. I'll head to JoAnn's this weekend and pick up some netting.

I did have one question about the netting. Should I get the softer tulle or the standard stiffer netting? I guess I could get some of each and experiment!

That would have been my guess.

I used to work at JoAnn's and there were these two sisters who had to be in their late 70's and they'd come in when we had the netting on sale for 50 cents a yard. They'd buy yards and yards of all kinds of colors, cut it into strips and crochet scrubbies. I expressed a curiosity and the next time they came in, they brought me 3 of them! They were quite a pair!

These look like lots of fun to do, I can't wait!

All I need is the netting, and that will have to wait until next weekend. These will be so useful~it'll be great not to buy nasty sponges anymore.

For those of you who have tried them, do they really work as well as the sponges with the soft scrub sides? My official dishwashers love those and I don't like them, since they can't be washed.

YES! They work better, and you can wash them in washer. I hang mine to dry. The colored netting is safe to bleach out stains. Unfortunately, the sugar 'n' cream is not colorfast.
Even normal washings fade the colors.

Be sure and use the scratchiest netting. The scratchier the better. No tulle!
