Buttonhole help please

I have seen and followed the 3 stitch buttonhole video on stockinette stitch on this site and have managed to do it okay.

But I am now working on buttonholes done on garter stitch (purl stitches).

My question is:
Do I reverse the instructions (move yarn to the back, slip stitch knitwise, etc etc)

OR

do I just follow the video instructions used for stockinette stitch.

Do I sound confused?

Please help in setting me straight...

You would probably do it the same way, since you're knitting every row in garter.

I have made this type of button hole in garter stitch and didn't change anything. It looked fine.
