No, I just did one (the white one). The first was from the pattern. I failed to understand the importance of gauge swatch at this point, and just used the suggested needle size, which affected the shape somewhat, and gave him really small feet. You can't really see the stitches as nicely, either.
The other thing I failed to master is the i-cord (trunk). What I would get is 3 really tight stitches and 1 loose one, so I just did it on DPNs. You kind of have to keep track of which way the needles should be oriented so you don't twist them, but fortunately the trunk gets bigger as it goes, so you eventually have at least 2 stitches on every needle.
