Fingerless gloves
The pattern calls for 2 8" circular needles size US 6. The knitting shop told me to use 32" circular needles size US 6 and use the magic loop. I have done this and have the round portion done -however, now to part that makes thumb opening. It says I will work stitches back and forth to create the thurmb opening using "both" circular needles as if straight needles. Does this mean that I need another needle or another set of circular needles. Totally confused.
Any help would be most appreciated

No, you can use the two tips of one circular needle to work back and forth.
