Carriage Baby Blanket

My 92 year old Mother-in-law started this blanket years ago, and does not have the pattern, she has worked about 12 inches on it. Could anyone help figure out the pattern? Thanks in advance for your help. Her big desire is to finish this blanket before her passing.

Ingrid, Thanks so much...I have added another picture to see if you could see the middle spaces better. They go different directions on each side of the center. You are very close on the pattern, hope this helps you see it better.

It's a feather and fan variation that doesn't seem to have a knit on the WS row, all in stockinette.

On the pattern row - K2tog times, YO (k1 YO) 3 times, k2tog (or SSK) 2 times, repeat.
