Sewing up the seams

I have just finished the long coat and pinned the 2 fronts at the shoulders. The collar is a 2x2 ribbing which needs to be attached as soon as the shoulder seams are done.(see picture, I hope it comes out)



My question is on how to sew these shoulder seams up.

Can I use the method described in Studioknits online book for horizontal seams (as I've read that the backstitch seam is not as invisible);.

As you can see the stitches are in both Knit and Purls with the cables going every which way; and the sleeves are made up of 2 rows KNIT, 2 rows PURLS

So does this mean when I sew them up I have to change the stitches as I go along?

I also want to know if I follow this method, I would be seaming the edges on the right side facing of the work, yes?
Any advice on the best method would be most welcomed.

My advise is to line up all your stitches so that they match up perfectly (cables with cables, knits with knits and purls with purls). I use safety pins to pin them right side facing forward. Then follow the instructions here:

sorry, It's hard for me to explain, plus I always end up doing it my own way, in the end I always looks good. As long as you keep the pieces facing forward then you can see when you make a mistake and take the stitch out and re-do.
