CO for making thumb hole

Hi there,
I'm wondering where exactly to CO the new 4 sts in these instructions, which is for the row that makes the hole for a glove. I have already K4 and put the next 4 sts on waste yarn. Do I pull it tight and CO on the left needle? OR do I CO on the right needle and just "skip" them for this round? I'm guessing the latter, but I don't want to be wrong. Thanks!!

"knit 4, slip next 4 sts to waste yarn, CO 4 sts using the backward loop method, knit to end"

Yes, co on the right needle where your yarn is and knit them on the next round.
