Can't Figure Crochet Hobo Bag Pattern Join
I'm starting the Crochet Hobo Bag and I don't crochet much so I'm not getting the joining of the first row which reads:

Row 2: from the fourth ch sp from hook, make three dc in the same sp, *sk 3 ch spaces, 4 dc in the next sp * until the end of the ch, make 3 ch, repeat * * on the back loop of the ch, ch 3, sl st to the 3rd ch of the first ch3 sp to join. (22 ch4 clusters, 2 ch3 spaces)

I did the first part (in black), it's the stuff in blue I'm confused about! I'm sure it's something simple because others have made it and there are no questions about the join on the pattern blog notes. Thanks to all you crocheters out there for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I got it.

You make a chain on row 1.
Then on row 2, you crochet back along the chain. When you arrive at the beginning of the chain, you chain 3, then you continue on the other side of the original chain. Does that make sense?

Normally you work through 2 loops when going back the chain, and since a chain stitch is made up of 3 loops, you have one left, the "back loop".

Thank you SO much!!!!!!!! The sticker was coming back the same way on the chain but since you're working from the bottom of the bag up, it makes sense, and should make it nice and sturdy because there will be no seam on the bottom!
