I am getting really frustrated. Working on a "crayon" blanket and am using Caron Simply Soft. Bought 3 of the colors at a local store, but they didn't have all the colors I needed. Thought, NO PROBLEM, get on line order the other 3. ALL my skeins say 7oz....everywhere I go on the internet the yarn is 6oz. So my question is, will that one oz really make a difference, or will the yarn look the same?
If it has a dyelot it may look different regardless of the oz. Otherwise it probably doesn't make any difference. It's possible they stopped selling one of the weights, but still have some left is why the discrepancy.
When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.
It sounds as if you have enough of the colors you already purchased, but what you still need to buy are other colors? If that is the case, then how many ounces are in a skein will make no difference. However, if you do order it from an on-line company, I would call them and ask if they will check the dye lots because every one I've ever looked as explicitly states "dye lots not guaranteed".
The other issue is how many ounces per color are required. If you get 6 oz skeins instead of 7 oz, you could potentially run out of yarn.
Well, I only need one skein per color (336 yards and only need 218 per color). So the new ones that I need to buy are all different colors so the dye lot isn't an issue. So sounds like I won't know the difference between the 6oz an 7oz!
