I count only 9 in this 10-stich multiple
Please help. I am knitting from a free Yarn Market pattern, the Merino Parisian Rooftop Socks. I have 60 stitches on the needles. The instructions say:

Rounds 1 and 5 (Multiple of 10 sts): (p2, YO, skpsso, p3, k2tbl, p1) repeat 5 times
Round 2 and even rounds: (p2, k2, p3, k2tbl, p1) repeat 5 times

What am I missing? This is a 9 stitch repeat, per my count. What am I doing wrong?

Rns 1 and 5 use 10 sts and produce 9 sts.
Rnd 2 uses 10 sts and produces 9 sts, too.
I think there's an error somewhere...

I would email Yarnmarket for any corrections or errata on this. Mary

Row one uses 10 and leaves 9 at the end of the repeat. Row 2 uses 10 and leave 10 at the end of it. I think there should be another YO in row 1, or some sort of inc. I looked at the other rows and they are all use 10, end with 10 in the repeat. I think you're going to have to contact yarnmarket to see if there's been a correction.

Rounds 1 and 5 (Multiple of 10 sts):

p2, YO, skpsso, p3, k2tbl, p1) repeat 5 times

Round 2 and even rounds: (p2, k2, p3, k2tbl, p1) repeat 5 times [quote]

2 purls use two stitches
skpssp uses 2 stitches
p3 uses three stitches
k2tble uses 2 stitches
p1 uses one stitche

2 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10

So it is a 10 stitch repeat. However, both these rows produce 9 stitches as a result - which means that it doesn't work. They also don't tell you what to do for row 3

Even rounds:
p2 uses 2
k2 uses 2
p3 uses three
k2tble uses 2
p1 uses one.
2 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 10

Is it possible that the "k2tbl" doesn't mean to knit them together, but just to knit 2 sts, and each of them through the back loop? That's how I read the line...

I think you are correct as that would make the numbers work - and they do not list a k2tbl in their stitch key. Odd usage though.

I was counting k2tbl as 2 sts, both coming and going, but I still ended up with 9.* The pattern says k2t is k2tog, and tbl is just through the back loop.

* D'oh! and I just recounted and now I end up with 10. I know that I did count them as separate sts, but must have missed a stitch somewhere else.

I agree, must be the explanation! I couldn't find any errata on it at all.

My Thanks to All
Yes, the "k2tbl" means knit each separately, not "k2togtbl". It took me so many tries and rips to finally figure that out.

And, Yarn Market was wonderful in getting right back to me as well, so thanks for the that suggestion.

Wonderful folks here!!
