Yep, my skin is too sensitive and Noro is notoriously scratchy. I can knit with wool, just not wear it next to my neck or shoulders. I've heard that it softens up a bit when washed though...not enough for ME, but it's probably fine for you if you can normally wear wool.

Noro Silk Garden isn't soft by any stretch of the imagination!
It's beautiful alright, but not soft. Not 'neck soft'.

If you make your scarf using Noro Silk Garden, be sure to give it a full bath before blocking, and, second step: use a softener in the final rinse (by hand of course). This will help tame the fibers and the scratchiness.

Everyone has a different tolerance for wool blends, and about what 'soft' means to them! I need warm AND soft around my neck.

Good luck! The Rav scarf is beautiful!

Hummm. Maybe I will wait to buy the yarn. We go through Indianapolis a few times a year and they have an awesome yarn store that I think carries Noro. I think I should feel it myself. I just assumed that so many people making scarves can't be wrong!!! I mean, there are a million striped scarves out of Noro on Ravelry!!!

Thanks for the head's up! I will check it out! I'm actually WAY behind on my jewelry these days so I shouldn't be knitting in the first place! It's just that knitting is easy and designing jewelry, right now, is hard. I suppose it's a message to me that I should be kicking my butt out into the studio and waiting on the new knitting project!

I think people use it because the colors are gorgeous! When I took the entrelac class I used this-

http://www.paradisefibers.net/Marble...ett-p/4130.htm

It's a very soft acrylic and looked great as entrelac. It doesn't have the striking color changes, but it worked for my wool sensitive needs.
