Actually all of the patterns floating around, including those on etsy, are knock off's from the original one which I posted. Everyone is trying to figure out what she did.

The person that created the first sackboy didn't have a pattern, and hers bar none is the cutest out there. She's the mother of one of the programmers who created this game.

So I'm ignoring all of the patterns out there and trying to recreate him based on the pic I posted and the character from the game.

For those of you who don't know, sackboy is a popular playstation 3 (game console) character.

Maybe a bind-off around the mouth opening, then pu&k for the inside of the mouth? Or just a single crochet around the lips to create a thin edge? The yarn harlot has a page where she describes how to do a single-crochet across a row of stitches in order to stabilize a neckline... I bet you could do the same thing to create a visual edge for the lips.
