Increases & decreases
I am knitting a baby sweater which calls for M1 increases at the beginning and end of a row. Do I slip the 1st stitch and then M1 or do I knit the 1st stitch and then M1. It also calls for decreases at the beginning and ending of a row. How do I proceed in this case?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Either way would work, though doing a m1 after a slipped st might not leave the slip stitch right. Increases at the beginning and end of rows doesn't necessarily mean right at the edge - they can be one stitch in. But a link to the pattern can help us give you more specific information.
