Cable Question
So I have a cable pattern that I'm looking at and am totally confused. I've done a cable pattern before that would tell me to C4B, k2, k4 from cable type of instructions. Not a problem.

HOWEVER, these instructions read:

Even Rows: purl
Row 3: *k2, C4B,; rep from * to end.
Row 5: knit
Row 7: *C4F, k2; rep from * to end

SO...am I going to have TON of these cable sts the width of my piece on a needle or do I knit them after the k2 that follows each cable section? I'm thinking the second option but being new to cabling figured I should check with all y'all experts.

This isn't a on a particular pattern but is rather a "cable stitch" I'm trying to figure out cause I love it and well, all the cable directions in this "Cables & Arans" book read like this.

On row 3, you'd k2, slip the next 2 stitches to a cable needle and hold to the back, knit 2, knit 2 from the cable needle (that's a C4B.)
Then you'd k2 and repeat the C4B.

The C4F is where you hold 2 to the front, knit 2, then knit the 2 from the cable needle. Then k2, later, rinse and repeat.

Generally, when directions for a cable are written this way, you divide the total number of stitches in half and then put them Front or Back.

LOL!! WOW... I was WAY off. Heaven only knows what my sts would have turned out like.

As always, Ingrid, you are an angel to knitters. Thank you SO much for your wisdom and your (as well as most everyone here's) ability to tell us stuff in a "I'm a newbie to this" language.

Wow... All these cable sts instructions make SO much more sense now.

Thanks again.
