Adagio Shawl Help

I'm not the most advanced knitter so I though I should ask before I try this pattern out.

In row 4 it says, "* insert needle through next st and y o and K 1, y o, K 1 in same st, sl both y o and st off needle (3 sts made),"

Just to clarify, it would be the yo, k1, yo, k1 in the same stitch? Then to slip the yo off it would have to be slipped off over the last k1? Or is it something entirely different which is probably the most likely scenario.

Yes, you do that into the same st, but tou slip off all the sts on the needle - the 2 YOs, and 2 sts. The reference to 3 sts made is that you increased 3 sts.
