What Does Your Project Bak look like?

I'd love to see some pix!

Right now mine is just a plain plastic bag from the my local shop, filled with only one pattern, 2 skeins and round needles with a project just started. But I know they can be much more elaborate and/or messy/filled up!

So what kind of bag do you carry with you for knitting on-the-go and how many projects do you juggle at once?

I haven't taken a picture of mine in a while, but here is what it looked like once upon a time.



It's a bag that I bought from Yankee Candle at Christmas -- $5 with $35 purchase or something like that. I thought it would be perfect for my yarn projects!

Inside is has a pattern pamphlet, a Knitting Guide, and a small cosmetic bag with some odds and ends in it, like a tape measure, some crochet hooks and stitch holders. Common items that I don't use often and so can get by with only one.

It also holds two small project pouches. In this picture, they are stacked on top of each other to make room for the skeins, but I normally do not carry so much yarn around with me. (That was the point of this particular picture -- to show how crammed my bag was.)

Each project pouch has a pair of scissors in it, as well as the yarn, needles and pattern for whatever I am working on. I work on two projects at once -- one small "complicated" project and one "easy" project for those times that I can't, or don't want to, concentrate on what I am doing.

Often, I leave the bag in the car and just carry a pouch by itself into wherever I am going.

At the moment, my easy project is a log cabin blanket and it has gotten too big for both bags. The pouch still has the pattern and the scissors, but I have had to move the yarn and the work to other containers. I don't think I will be carrying around anymore and am contemplating a new, small, little thinking required project to replace it in my carryall. (Like the KH February or May KALs. )

I have this bag (below), that I got at Michaels once upon a time. It was actually sold/advertised as a knitting bag in their knitting section, so it has some great interior pockets and a zippered compartment (where I keep the pattern I need), plus the two cargo-type pockets on the front.


(note: the bus says "Have a nice day" on it!)

I tend to use this as my purse + knitting bag during the work week so I don't have to tote a purse as well, so I usually throw my cell phone and stuff in those two front pockets, but inside I keep a skein or two of yarn plus a little zipper pouch I sewed a few years back to hold whatever needles and notions I need for my particular on-the-go project of the moment. It's fate; the zipper pouch fits the bottom rectangle of the knitting bag perfectly, so it's usually on the bottom.



The bag sits well on my lap when I knit on the train commute each day, too. Nothing too exciting, but it works for me!

I only have one project per bag, but can be found juggling as many as three bags (projects) at a time. I found this plastic one for $18 Cdn at a crafts store (called "Fabric, Crafts and More") in Perth, Ontario, Canada.

I like it cuz it's narrow, strong, and washable. I throw it into the car at every opportunity.
