Joining on circular needles
I'm fairly new knitter and am working on an infinity scarf. I have knitted a couple of rows and want to know if it's possible to join or do I need to rip out and add the extra stitch at the first row. Thanks!

Welcome to KH. Good planning! Yes, go ahead and join to work in the round. You've done well to knit a couple of rows first, it will help to avoid twisting your work. You can use the tail of the yarn to stitch any gap it leaves. Lots of knitters do this whenever they knit in the round. You're smarter than you realized.

ETA Oops! I just realize I missed the word "infinity"...unless you mean a twisted scarf, moebius style, then do join with a twist. If you want the twist, you can have one.

Would the process to join be the same i.e., cast on an extra stitch? I've never joined anything before. Thanks for your quick response.

I would just knit to the end of the row and then without turning knit the end stitch to join. I've never knit an extra stitch when joining after a couple of rows. You can try it both ways and see which works better for you. Let us know how it goes, please.

I was thinking why don't I do an extra stitch and it's because the gap from joining hasn't been a problem for me, it seems to have to do with joining the cast on row to work in the round.
