Sewing On Collar
I am making Lace Tweed Jacket from Debbie Bliss Fall/Winter 2008 magazine.

I am all finished with the knitting. I am confused by the directions for sewing on the collar.

It says under the notes: When sewing on the collar, lay the colar on top of the neck edge and stitch through both thicknesses to reduce the bulk when the collar is folded back.

So do I lay the wrong side of the collar on the right side of the neck edge? Then what stitch should I use? What do they mean sew trough both thincknesses?

I would lay the right side of the collar inside the sweater up against the ws of the body. This way your seam will end up under the collar as it's folded back.

As for the 'both thicknesses' thing? I'm not positive what they mean. Sometimes they'll be further directions in another section of the magazine, but I suspect that you work your yarn through all the loops on the edges of the collar and the body.

I see what you mean. sort of overlap the two edges with the collar covering the top edge of the neck of the sweater. I will give that a try and see what it looks like. this is a first for me.

Just wanted to let you all know I think I got this right. I overlapped the two bound off edges with the collar laying out and the sweater laying the other way. I then stitched the two together easing the collar evenly. It turned out pretty well, I think. It looks good to me. Thanks for your help.
