Don't post ANY full pattern even free ones. Just the part you're having problems with. A link is usually the best way to handle it if you need more than you can type.
There is a right side and a wrong side to all knitted objects. You knit one side and when you get done with all the stitches you take the needle with the stitches and put it back in your other hand and the empty needle in your right hand and start knitting again. That is turning your work. You won't always be purling though that depends on the pattern. If your pattern says to purl then purl of course.
