Can I change the pattern?

I have on old pattern for a sleeveless summer top. It uses a simple lacy pattern over the whole item which is made up of 4 rows and uses only 200g of DK.

What i want to know is can i knit this same pattern just in Stocking Stitch as i fancy a plain version. Would this mean i would use more wool?

You can certainly change it and it may use more yarn. Lace is more open than stockinette, so it sometimes uses less stitches to get the same size.
