FO - Garter Rib Socks II (AKA don't do this again)
This is the 2nd pair of socks for my uncle in NY; but this time he wanted reinforced yellow toes and heels. Well, I didn't get it right. It was fine until I washed them; now I have red socks with salmon/gold.
What a learning experience; I made these smaller (as I had made the first pair much too big; but he didn't tell me until he had worn them out---I mean big holes in them ), I researched contrasting toes and heels and on how to reinforce, and thought I could get away with using multiple Color Catcher sheets. Oh yeah.
So I've sent an email to the yarn company for advice for the future, and to inquiry if another of their yarns will do. I'll also begin at square one looking for another yarn.
This pair will just hang around until I get it right. They look ok and I'm really happy with the reinforcing as I was able to make it very smooth (did just the bottom of the toes and heels). BUT they are not what was requested.
Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts Sock That Rock - lightweight: Brick and Hoofle Foofle
Pattern: Garter Rib from Sensational Socks
Needle: US1 (2.50mm) 2 circulars (KP Harmony)

You are still waaaay ahead of the knitting game than I am!
I've yet to even try a sock!

They look great to me! I like socks with different color toes and heels!

They look great, too bad about the colour running.

I've been wondering about how to reinforce toes & heels, so thanks for the info and pattern ideas.

They're for a size men's US 10; since the ribbing is very stretchy (and the first pair was too big) I sized them down from 80 to 68 stitches. I wear a wm's 9.5 and they're a little roomy on me.
Any good non-bleeding red sock yarn out there?

Red is really tricky isn't it. I wonder if it would pay to skein and soak/wash any red wool in the future and hopefully get rid of the excess dye.
