4 dpn instead of 5 dpn
Hoping to try knitting my first pair of socks. The pattern I want to make calls for a set of 5 dpn. I only have 4 dpn. Can I make it work? Will the circumference be too small?

That shouldn't be a problem at all. If the pattern is specific enough to say x stiches on each needle, you'll have to adjust that. I think typically in a 5 needle pattern, the top of the foot is half of the stitches on each of Needles 1 & 2, and the bottom of the foot stitches are divided on Needles 3 & 4.

I'd put the top of the foot stitches on one needle, and split the bottom on 2 & 3.

When stitching the leg section, you might awnt to divide them 1/3 on each of the 3 needles.

All this may need to be adjusted if there is any kind of stitch pattern.

I usually use 2 circular needles, but if I use DPN I always use 4.
