I CO the Ankle Socks yesterday. I decided against the yarn I chose because I want to use it for a longer socks. I'll take a picture and post it later.

Good plan! That nice sock yarn is hard to come by sometimes. And if you made ankle socks with it, you'd have lots of leftover yarn.

I'm going to make a pair with some Cascade Fixation yarn I've had for a while.

I'm half way (?) done with the first sock. The Ankle Sock pattern is pretty easy for the most part, but I think the directions are aimed at someone with sock knitting experience since I'm having a hard time visualizing what she is saying. I think it looks okay, should have frogged some on the heel, but we'll see what happens with getting the second one to "match".

Yarn is Moda Dea Sassy Stripes in "Crush" (6946) & using size 2 dpns.

I don't think I have enough yarn! Anyone have suggestions for how to tell? I'm 75% done with the first sock and am wondering if this is going to turn out to be Ladybug's sock for her Hedgie.

You usually need two 50 gram skeins of sock yarn to make socks with a cuff as long as you made. If you made short-cuffed ankle socks, you could do them with one skein.

Thanks -- guess Hedgie's getting a "hat" finally. Even though I followed the directions and the pattern said that much yarn, I'll make sure to get at least 2 skeins next time I buy sock yarn.

I think I have 2 skeins of another sock yarn I can CO after I finish this one for Ladybug.

Cool Hat!

You might be able to find another skein the same color on Ravelry. I've gotten a few skeins I needed that way. Lots of Ravelry members list their yarn for trade or sell. Just look up your yarn, and click "stashes". The ones for sale will be listed at the top.

I may do that, but will wait until two of my friends get to the mainland to see if they are able to find it for me. I'm learning a valuable lesson to record where I get the yarn from.

However -- I just went the Moda Dea website and discovered they have retired that line of yarn! Will check Ravelry and if not, it will still be a great hat for Hedgie.
