cardi pattern help pls :)
Hiya

I'm making this cardi...
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer08/PATTheyteach.html

I'm stuck on the part in bold ...
RIGHT FRONT
CO 37[41, 45, 49, 53, 57, 61] sts.
Work 4 rows in 1x1 Rib, ending with a WS row.
Work in stockinette st until work measures 8 inches from CO edge, ending with a RS row.

Next Row [WS]: P5, [p2tog, p6(7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12)] four times. 33[37, 41, 45, 49, 53, 57] sts.

Work 8 rows in 1x1 Rib, ending with a WS row.

Bodice:
Set-up Row [RS]: K6[0, 0, 6, 0, 0, 5], work 25[37, 37, 37, 49, 49, 49] sts in Lace Pattern, k2[0, 4, 2, 0, 4, 3]. This row sets pattern for bodice. Pattern Repeat section outlined in red is worked 1[2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3] times in each row.

Continue in pattern as set until work measures 13 inches, ending with a RS row.

I did the set-up row fine on the back piece but I wonder why the left front piece set up row is like that. I've read that there is some errata and it is supposed to be k6, knit in pattern, k2 but still I don't understand it...

for the back piece it said to k2, knit in pattern, k2 and to maintain the 2 stockinete stitches at the beginning and end of the row which I understand fine. But for the left front piece it doesn't say to keep the k2 at the beginning and k6 at the end of rows for the rows after the set-up row so the set-up row isn't going to be aligned with the lace pattern?? (I hope that makes sense). Why can't I just knit it as it's supposed to be (ie without the k2 or k6 at the beginning or end) or knit it like i did for the back with 2 stockinette stitches at the beginning and end of the rows.

Help for this confused knitter will be appreciated!

Dose the left start with k2 first then work in patt to the last 6 sts and k them?

When knitting cardies you do vice-a-verser with the beg and end of patt.

well it is supposed to be k6, knit in pattern, k2 but what I don't understand is whyyyy, can't you just knit the 1st row as how it is supposed to be because won't the k6 offset the pattern

Think of it as reading the row backwards and knitting it from the end to the beginning.
