RS / WS
I have an odd question ... the pattern shows:
Cast on xx stitches.
K the 1st row from the WS and continue in stocking sts throughout.
Should I knit the first row after the cast on? Aren't knit stitches normally on the RS?
Thanks!

It depends on the pattern. Maybe they want a purl row to show up as the first row after the cast on. What is the pattern? Is there a link?

It may mean they actually want rev stockinette stitch, where the knit row would be the WS. Without more about the pattern, it's hard to say.

The pattern is DROPS number 97-18. From garnstudio.com.
Thanks!

It looks like you knit the first row (the WS) and then knit the next row as the first RS row of the stockinette. It's probably to reduce curling.

I do that; make a purl row on the RS before beginning stockinette, and it does help keep it from curling so much.
