Mitten Thumb Gussett
My first attempt at knitting mittens has me perplexed!. I knitted the mittens as instructed, placed 11 stitchs on "hold" and continued to finish the body of the mitten. Now, it's time to finish the thumb. I placed the 11 stitches on dpn's but there is no hanging/loose yarn to knit the stitches with! What did I do wrong and how can I finish the thumb?

You just take a ball of yarn and start knitting. You didn't do anything wrong.

Start knitting with a loose end of yarn, can be from the other end of the skein or another ball.
