please help with gedifra (amara) pattern

I am starting the neckline. I've picked up the 60 stitches as instructed. Pattern say:
work motif 10 times, the 16 center stitches, 2nd motif 10 times. The chart does not have 60 stitches on it. What do I do with the first 22 stitches before I get to the center 16 stiches? If anyone has this book, can see the chart and help me with this pattern, I would appreciate it.
