Need help on a Bernat pattern
I'm so confused... I've just finished working the 4th row on this pattern, but don't understand what comes next! I'm making this as a surprise for my great aunt, and she is normally who i go to with any questions, so I'm hoping some kind soul will help! Thanks in advance!

You would repeat the previous 4 rows for the pattern. After row 4, start over again with row 1.

Then when do you use the 5th through 10th rows in the Lace Panel that they explained in the beginning?

Thank you for your help, by the way. I should have said that before asking another question. I'm just so frustrated!

Ahhh, I'm sorry, I didn't read that well. It looks like the first 4 rows setup the Lace panel (that's not explained well either) then you begin the Lace Panel pattern starting with Row 5. The lace panel is only over 9 sts though and it looks like there are sts between them which are set up in the first few rows. Do the RS rows as in Rows 1 and 3 of the setup rows, and the WS rows as for Rows 2 and 4 of the setup rows. You're basically doing 2 sts patterns - the Lace panel and another lacey pattern between them.

So it seems that all the WS rows will be the same every time. I got that. I'm still lost on the RS rows... what makes up the rest of the 5th, 7th, and 9th rows? If it is the same as the 1st and 3rd, what goes with what? Am I making sense at all?

You're going to be doing both patterns mushed in together, so you may want to keep track of where you are.

Row 5 - Work r 1 of the setup rows, and row 5 of the Lace panel pattern.
Row 7 - work r 3 of the setup and row 7 of the lace panel pattern
row 9 - R1 of the setup and row 9 of the lace panel pattern
row 11 - r3 of the setups, row 1 of lace panel pattern

Keep rotating through the patterns like that. You pretty much repeat rows 1 and 3 of the setup, substituting whichever row of the Lace panel pattern you should be on wherever it says 'work row 1 (3) of the LPP'.

So I never work the 9th row of the Lace Panel?

You are a saint. Thank you SO MUCH! I finally think I understand. (By the way, I love your Pinwheel Sweater on Ravelry).

I edited the post for spelling, then saw where I left off row 9, so corrected it later.

The pinwheel is a cool pattern to make; I liked it because my GD was kind of a large baby and made it a little bigger with longer sleeves so she can wear it longer. I showed my DIL how it can be turned either way depending on if she wears it now, or next year.
