So this question might be in the wrong forum, BUT I use a acrylic worsted weight yarn and I was wondering if I hot glue a pendant or ornament of some sort on a crocheted hat, or knitted scarf, will the yarn melt, shred or disintegrate or something like that?

I sure wouldn't want to be the one to tell you it's okay and then have it melt or ruin the hat. I suggest you try hot gluing something to a swatch to find out.
**Please provide a pattern link and/or name if possible and as much information as you can when asking questions so we can help you better and more quickly.
Remember that there are low temperature hot glues and guns out there.

I suggest you try hot gluing something to a swatch to find out.
