Help with socks

Hi There, I need some help please. I am knitting some socks for the first time and it says the following:-

K5(6), pick up and k8 sts evenly along inside edge of heel, k12(14) sts from holder, pick up and k8 stiches and k5(6) sts from holder.

The bit I am not sure about is how to pick up the stiches from the inside edge of the hell - can anyone direct me to a video to show me how to do this?
