Blocking required?

Ok guys, I am just about finished with my kimono sweater and I do not see anywhere in the pattern about blocking it. Do you block most all sweaters or garments that you knit even it the instructions are not included with the pattern? Also this sweater is knitted in 4 pieces and sewed together...then the collar is knitted onto the piece. So what is the best way for blocking this piece.

Sometimes all an item needs is to be washed, that will even out the stitches. What fiber is the sweater?

The yarn is Plymouth acrylic/wool blend

Then all you need to do is machine wash and dry it.

Is it plymouth encore? I made a sweater out of it, and I had to wash it a lay it flat to dry.
