not understanding what to do

Hi, my instructions are reading as follows: K5. *(K1. P1. K1) all in next st. k3togtbl. Rep from * to last 5 sts. K5. What I don't understand is what is meant by *(k1. P1. etc....All In Next St? Do I put the thread back onto the main needle after K1 so I can P1 then back again to K1? Thanks for your help. Happy knitting.

You knit in the stitch, but instead of then pulling the old stitch off of the left needle, leave it there and then purl into it. Again, instead of pulling it off of the left needle, still leave it on and then knit into it. NOW pull if off. You'll have 3 stitches made from the 1 original stitch.
