Pattern Help
Foaming Waves Stitch Pattern (source: 365 Stitches a Year)
Rows 1-4: Knit
Row 5 (RS): K1, *K2tog twice, (YO, K1) 3 times, YO, (sl1,K1, psso) twice, K1;rep from * to end.
Row 6: Purl
Rows 7-12: Rep Rpws 5 and 6 three more times.
Rep these 12rows for pattern.
I am afraid that I tried this pattern 25 times and undid it 25 times too! I just don't get it. Could anyone explain me in a simple way what I should do? Maybe by rewriting the pattern in a way that makes more sense to a beginner?
I think that something is not quite right and it's probably about that K1 stitch before the last *? Maybe I should not knit that K1 stitch and start K2tog right after the last psso?
What I read in Knitqueen's 2007 explanations is different from suzeeq's:
Row 5 (RS): K1, *K2tog twice, (YO, K1) 3 times, YO, (sl1,K1, psso) twice, K1;rep from * to end.
and
k1 *k2tog, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1,(no yarn over?!) sl 1, k1, psso,k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, sl 1, k1, psso, k1 equal 25 sts, starting and ending.
so I don't know what to think!
Thanks for your help.

I moved your post to it's own thread. Please tell us the pattern name you need help with.

"Row 5 (RS): K1, *K2tog twice, (YO, K1) 3 times, YO, (sl1,K1, psso) twice, K1;rep from * to end."

That works out right, you do need the YO that I made green. You do k1 one, then start over again with the k2tog twice. The repeat is 12 sts plus the single k1 at the beginning which is not repeated. So if you do the pattern over 25 sts that will come out right.

Make sure you're doing the YOs correctly, they're just a wrap around the needle, not a wrap and knit the st, then k1. So your finished rows looks like - a single k, 2 decs, yo 1, yo 1, yo 1, yo, 2 decs and 1 knit.

Thanks! I will try this out tonight. It seems that the problem is that I didn't do the YO correctly. I will let you know when I have it right...hopefully soon!!!
