My iPhone has retina display, love it when I use it. The next piece of text I want is an iPad, maybe when the next version comes out. For now, happy to use the Kindle reader app on my phone.

Family and friends gave me a new laptop at Christmas, and now I find that there is a laptop that you can attach a smart phone to! That would make my work easier.

Hmmmm...I guess I've been reading too much.
From what I've read...Apple will plop a newer version of the iPad into the mix this Fall, prolly September...the iPad3. Well c'mon now. How does that make me feel on March 11th? I think I can stand to wait til September to see what the newest version will contain.

In doing some playing around at Apple...come to find out...an iPad2 would NOT cost $499 as I had thought...but rather $829 with Wifi+3G. Then add on to that the new Smart Cover (very cool indeed!) and other little things...we arrive at a price-tag of $1093.



Welllll, my next thought is (and this idea was put into my mind through one of the forums I was digging around in...): what would it cost to just get a 10.1" Dell mini-netbook? And what would the little netbook have that the iPad doesn't have?

Anyway...what are your thoughts about the Mini-Netbook vs any good brand of Tablet? Why would you recommend one over the other, besides the 'cool factor'? Being cool doesn't count!

Wow.. that's crazy! I just checked and a 32G wifi/3g comes to $841 including tax. Still a lot of money, but about $200 less than you mentioned. I'm still thinking about it.

I've looked at netbooks and they did interest me, but I like the touch screen, the apps, not having to have virus software....

ETA: Oh and the $499 one is the 16G w/o 3g. I guess you just looked at the wrong one. From what I was reading the one in Sept (IF there is one) is more of a 2.5 version so not a big difference. The main difference seems like it might be retina display which does look cool. Best Buy will buy the product back if a new one comes out, but they only give you part of the cost. Like half if it comes out in 6mos. Better than nothing I suppose.

$1093 is the total with the SMART COVER ($69) and the other niceties for it. Every single little thing costs extra.

3) Apple Digital AV Adapter: $39
4) Apple iPad 2 Camera Connection Kit: $29
5) iPad 2 Dock: $29
6) Apple VGA Adapter: $29
7) Apple Care Protection Plan: $79
GRAND TOTAL : $ 1,103
(this is assuming most people already have ear buds, and don't need/want separate speakers or wireless keyboard!)

Additional set-up costs: data plan with either AT&T or Verizon, and possibly start-up fees as well....everyone wants their pound of flesh!

Oh now see... you added all kinds of stuff.

I'd get the cheaper cover, I only want 32G, and I don't want 3, 4, 5 or 6 for sure. Didn't think about the care protection plan. I already have AT&T so I'm thinking I'd just be adding on to it.

I don't know. Virtually everyone I know who has it says it's worth it and loves it.

I have an imac pro. It's an Apple laptop, only 13 in screen so it's small and very lightweight. It has all the features of an ipad but much more resourceful without all of those ridiculous addons. It also has a huge battery life, unlike the iPad, which is said to be terrible. I love it. My bf just bought it for me a couple months ago.
