SCARF SIZE TO AFGHAN?
I am really enjoying the Meandering Scarf pattern, and would like to use a chunky to make an afghan, can anyone out there figure out how many to cast on and what do you think of this idea. here is the meadering scarf pattern....
Meandering Rib Scarf

Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool



SCARF
Cast on 34 sts. Knit 3 rows.
Rows 1 and 2: K2, *k3, p3; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 3: K2, p1, *k3, p3; rep from * to last 7 sts, k3, p2, k2.
Row 4: K4, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 6 sts, p3, k3.
Row 5: K2, p2, *k3, p3; rep from * to last 6 sts, k3, p1, k2.
Row 6: K3, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 7 sts, p3, k4.
Rows 7 and 8: K2, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 9: Rep Row 6.
Row 10: Rep Row 5.
Row 11: Rep Row 4.
Row 12: Rep Row 3.
Rows 13 and 14: Rep Row 1.
Rows 15 and 16: Rep Rows 11 and 12.
Rows 17 and 18: Rep Rows 9 and 10.
Rows 19 and 20: Rep Rows 7 and 8.
Rows 21 and 22: Rep Rows 5 and 6.
Rows 23 and 24: Rep Rows 3 and 4.
Rep Rows 1-24 until piece measures about 130 in. (330 cm) from beginning, end with Row 2.
Knit 2 rows. Bind off.

It looks like the original pattern is a multiple of 6, 5 times, with 2 sts on both ends. So if you increase in increments of 6 times an odd number - 46, 58, 70, etc to the number of sts you need (multiply your gauge times the width you want) it should work out.

Math is not my strong part of the brain,,lol....
