My partner has problems where his feet do the same thing that your fingers are doing because they get so dry.
Here is what he does for his feet, so it stands to reason that this would work on your hands too. He has some avon products for his feet so why not just use foot lotion on your hands.
First he soaks them in as hot a water as he can stand with a little epsom salt. Then right after he applies the Avon Foot Cream, puts on his socks, and sleeps with them on. He's been doing this for about 2 weeks and his feet don't crack anymore. And they are wickedly softer than they were before as well.

Something that's worked wonders on my dry cracked skin on my hands is the hot wax hand bath. It's like a mini spa treatment at home. You can buy them at Ben Bath and Beyond.
Good luck, and I hope your hands heal up quickly!!
I have been trying a little of everything:drinking more water, vaseline and gloves, bought a big bottle of hand lotion put it on my desk right in front of me so I am reminded to use it several times a day, the neosporin worked really fast to heal them, did buy some foot cream that you use on heels- put it on my hands after i shower and today I can say for the first time in weeks - not one of my fingers is split or sore. Thank you Thank you Thank you I just might make it through the rest if this winter.
That sounds exactly what I was going through a few weeks ago. It seemed I was always hitting my hands right on the cuts on everything! It was so painful!
Two things helped me.
1. O'keefe's hardworking cream. applied at night. took two days to heal them, but I could tell a difference the next morning. http://www.okeeffescompany.com/
2. stopped knitting with acrylic yarn- was causing this problem in the first place! I was shocked when I discovered this.
