"Alana" cardigan in Rowan's The Lima Collection

Just starting on my first cardigan attempt and i'm not sure what some of the instructions mean.

What does is mean when it says

Dec 1 st at each end of 1st row, then on 2 foll 8th rows.

I get the first part but not the "then on 2 foll 8th rows" bit.

Dec 1 st at each end of 1st row, then on 2 foll 8th rows.

This means....

you would dec 2 stitches on row one,
knit 7 rows,
decrease row,
knit 7 rows,
decrease row.
and then on with the next direction.
