When RS facing, work a knit stitch in the chart blank boxes.
When WS facing, work a purl stitch in the chart blank boxes.

Imagine that the chart is the picture facing you. Stockinette stitch appears in the blank boxes (k on rs, p on ws.)

The - spaces will be purled on the rs and knit on the ws.
