Tying on the yarn and weaving in the ends later. Important note: I demonstrate weaving in with the duplicate stitch, so I call it the duplicate stitch join in the video. But I now think that even better than duplicate stitch is to skim the yarn across the back of the knitting, down a few rows, then back up, and maybe down again for good measure. Use a sharp needle and split the plies of the yarn, so that no yarn shows on the front at all.

Whatever you do, you should be able to stretch the knitting without it pulling the ends out. That’s all you need to weave in your ends. Knots come undone, but properly woven in ends will not!
