KnittingHelp.com Video iPhone App
Have an iPhone or iPod Touch? The ever popular KnittingHelp.com knitting videos have gone mobile! Over 160 videos from the website have been organized and added to this knitting video reference app.
The videos are stored within the app and not streamed, so there is no need for an Internet connection to watch them. This means you can access the videos instantly from anywhere. On an airplane? Not a problem. You will have at your fingertips access to numerous cast-on methods, bind-offs, increases and decreases, stitch patterns and a whole lot more. The app is available in iTunes or by searching for knittinghelp within the App Store on your iPhone or Ipod Touch.
Updated Version Now Available
We have recently updated the KnittingHelp.com Video Reference app to includes some great new features. The app now has a video search which lets you quickly find the video you are looking for by searching by name, alternative name, or associated abbreviation. We have also added a search list of knitting abbreviations common to many knitting patterns. In addition to these two new features, we have also improved the quality of many of videos, added several new videos, and managed to make the app 150MB smaller. If you already own the app, the upgrade is free and should be available to you in the App Store under the upgrades tab.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for the videos to load/play?
The videos play instantly! The videos are included with the app so there is no need to wait for the videos to download. In fact, the app doesn't need an internet connection at all.
How much is the KnittingHelp.com app?
The KnittingHelp.com app is $4.99 and is advertising free. The KnittingHelp.com website is free, and will always remain free. Purchasing the KnittingHelp.com app helps to support our work on the website and new video content.
Where can I get the app?
You can search for KnittingHelp in the iTunes app store, either from your computer or from your iPhone or iPod. You can also go to this link.
The app is taking a while to install, is that normal?
Yes. Because all the videos are included with the app, it can take a while to download. Depending upon your internet connection, it may take 15 - 30 minutes.
When I try to purchase the app, it says I do not have enough free space.
The app is fairly large because of the videos. You will need adequate free space on your iPhone or iPod to install the app. Try removing some things from your device, then try again.
Will the app work on my iPad?
The app will work on the iPad, but because it's not a universal app, it will appear in a smaller format in the iPad. We are currently working on making the app universal which means it will display properly on both the iPhone and iPad. We don't have an exact release date for the iPad update. However it will be a free upgrade for those who already own the app.
Will the app be maintained?
Yes. As new videos are added to the website, we will add them to the app. We are also planning on adding requested features. If you have already purchased the app, updates will be made available for free.
Some of the videos have no sound, is that normal?
Yes. Just like on the website, some of the simpler videos have no sound and are just easy to follow visual demonstrations.
Is there an Android, WebOS, Blackberry or Windows 7 version?
It takes considerable effort to make a native app for a smartphone. We started with the iPhone because that is what we use and when we polled our visitors that seemed to be the platform most people were using. We are working on an Android version of the app which we hope to make available sometime in 2011. It is unlikely that we will make a native version of the app for other platforms. However, we are planning on making a mobile friendly version of the KH website that we hope will work across all smartphones.
